Strengthening Peace, Security and Democracy in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Djibouti

Recommended Posts

The British government is committed to creating lasting peace, security and democracy in Ethiopia, Somaliland and Djibouti, while also improving its relationship with these countries. We do this through ongoing and regular work between the UK government and Ethiopian, Djiboutian and Somaliland governments, and by funding projects designed to achieve goals in these areas.

Actions

lobbying on political space and respect of human rights supported by strong UK policy input to multi-donor Democratic Governance Facility

we are regularly working with major Ethiopian decision-makers on Somalia, including around Intergovernmental Authority on Development and other regional meetings

providing funding, expert training and support to Ethiopia’s’s efforts in the African Union Mission in Somalia

lobbying on the various regular official and ministerial activity, visits and discussions with the governments of Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somaliland

supporting cultural, economic, political and military relationships and understanding between the UK and Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somaliland

funding relevant projects which contribute to our objectives for Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somaliland through the embassy’s Bilateral Fund and other Foreign & Commonwealth Office funds when necessary. These funds are managed in accordance with the embassy’s strategic goals, and are administered by a full-time project team.
