Prof. Gandhi will go down in history books. He is a man of consequence. He helped create a different mindset in a community that given up hope in challenging other forces in the region, recruited folks who hold sway in Nairobi and Jigjiga, brought Farole to the fold and assured wealthy H community in East Africa a seat at the table without fielding sizable militia. He asked them to finance the project. He was also successful to sell the idea of D confederacy in the south mimicked after PL clan construct to the most important constituency in the region -- Gedo community.

Many of us opposed Azania project from the outset. Some of us on humanitarian grounds. Others in clannish reasons. But when the rainy season passed and the casualty figures proved to be on the low side folks started focusing on AS and how to defeat them. The name which was a problematic also was tossed out and some of the affiliated AS allies were given a leading role if they help defeat AS. Prof. Gandhi was the central figure in all these decisions.

He brilliantly challenged TFG in IGAD, UN and IC donor circles. He vowed to bring AS reign in Jubba to an end, presented a plan and his figures added up. He recruited soldiers from refugee camps in Kenya and asked technical and financial help. He got both. He also on on the most important fight with TFG which is recognizing these soldiers as part of TFG soldiers.

Say what you want but this soft spokenman is a brilliant tactitian and solid leader.

Hope he gets the leadership of the soon to be established federal state of Jubba. He deserves nothing less.

He would do well but I doubt he would win.

Baashi,

Interesting analysis, saaxiib. But I still think you are not telling us the "real deal" in here. And that deal if I may be so bold as to enter a private conversion between "cousins" is that he is the most "malleable figure" to which one can hide behind and therefore through him one could act for one's personal and clannish interest without showing ones hands in the act.
:D

After all, I know no figure from the Gedo folks who will be as pliable for the clannish interest of the fish-eaters from pirate-land as this mild-mannered man will be.
:D

In other words when there is no "muscle" to borrow, particularly a ones that can in turn do you what you want, as the case was with Col. Yey with the Ethiopians in his day at the head of the TFG, then the "second best thing" to do is to make sure that whoever going to run the show must be someone with an easily "bent-able ear" in which one could prevail upon him with ones clannish smoke and mirror.
:D

Hence this professor fit that requirements - from the pirates side of things - to a tee.
:D

One should read Abtigiis thread on Azania and how Puntlanders though about Ghaandi not so long. And now he is showered with praise. Smells fishy indeed. :D

^Indeed these men are heavy weights. The problem is that Culusow and his damjadiid who are new to the game and ametours, while using Saacid, want to outmaneuver and win against an idea, of which heavy weights are behind it. Men with local knowledge, political experience of every level and with regional and international links.

Soon Culusow will learn that he has to up his game and play harder ball or wali ma uusan baranee wuu iska nasan.
