It wasn't really a lie, but it has ran it's course. A lot of people (including Somalis) have achieved the American dream and become really successful in whatever they pursuit to do. The american dream was never intended for natural born citizens of the U.S, it was used to recruit the brightest minds from around the world (typically Europe in the past) just as it is used today.
