Sultan faisal very simple Faroole dont try to associate you're self with us Somalilanders if you want to break away from Somalia than do it on you're own terms , he gave a little advise on clan federalism. He said that we will be neighbors with Puntland regional state but Puntland is part of Somalia 2 regions and a half. He said we also have boundaries and social coexistence and relations with Kilinka shanaad.

I agree with Faroole that walaalaha Somaliland should be copied with their secession attempts if the government doesn't work out. We love our brothers and may even show them the way to recognition, cause lord knows they are struggling in this department.

Xaaji, I don't think you and Oodweyne realise that Faroole is in actuality mocking you and this isn't in regards to Mogadishu.. God help you. He also misrepresented facts in regards to how Puntland gets its funds, Somali aid (based on the donating nation) is administered by an independent board which accounts for the funds.

 

Secondly relating to the dual track policy, it is still alive and well in regards to security matters, which is the most important sector and of US interests. What's changed is the distribution of aid and diplomatic ties however USAID to Puntland is only around 15 million and has to do with food and development assistance.

 

Thirdly, Somaliland's USAID amounts to around $45 million and is the most important part of your NGO package, your survial kit so to speak. It will also go through Mogadishu as well now that the dual track method is over. Sure, you might keep your UK aid, but what little that matters when Uncle Sam wants you to do something you can ask yourself before you go to sleep.

 

Xaaji, we must do what you do, because it is in the interest of the Somali people, we are all the same, HAG, SNM etc.

I think the Imam is just frustrated.He finds hard and unappetizing to follow the orders from Mogadishu.If the Imam plays it right he has a well organized community behind him that can offer him the full range of options to make Mogadishu government a nightmare! I do believe there is a faint possibility that he made those remarks to pre-empt and let Mogadishu know he is still the original power player that took Somalia out of transition.Puntland future is far from un-assured. It is no secret that Puntland spend a lot of effort in reviving Somalia and it is only fair to acknowledge their part
