Che -Guevara Posted January 3, 2013 It's deep spending cuts to defense and social programs coupled with high tax rises for all Americans. This was to come into effect come January 1st unless the two parties negotiated on long-term deficit reduction involving negotiated spending cut, revenue and tax.reform that will not result in second recession. The fiscal cliff was an arbitrary deadline that was agreed on by the President and the republicans during the spending cap negotiations. The two were suppose to come an comprehensive agreement on deficit reduction before the deadline, otherwise an automatic and drastic cuts and tax hikes will take affect after deadline.
