Beyond meaningless pride, if these people had one of theirs leading a ministry, what could he possibly do for them?

I really wonder who are actual individuals pressuring him not accept this? And who appointed them to be that tribe leaders?

Every institution in the world has some outside interest and influence so I don't mind tolka getting a little cut as long as the country gets its fair share of the pie. However these appointed officials usually want to pocket the whole cake for their own personal gain under the disguise of tolka. I bet tolka is oblivious most of the time and it doesn't get any share while its name is evoked for all kinds of things.

Tolka is simply retarded. Complete lack of accountability is what drive these men to steal.

Tolka can be a positive force but lacks genuine leadership. Ratiga tolka waxaa hogaanka u hayya rag calooshood u shaqeystayaal ah. Imagine genuine leaders echoing positive change while using their own tol to advance the country. Warlords use tolka to do their dirty work. Why shouldn't good people use for the betterment of the country?

I look at two men that used their tolka to the max and destroyed Somalia in the process, the late Aidid and Yusuf.

 

What legacy have they left for their tol? Not single school, universities, infrastructure, etc.

Is it not safe to suggest we followed these men to the gates of hell either because they did it through the barrel of the gun or no alternatives existed back then. If you were given sermons everyday that so and so were out to get you and the only opportunity to protect yourself was to pre-emptively fight your deemed enemy, you didn't have a choice but go along with the message played for you. And you didn't have any means to challenge whatever leadership tolka had in place. This is true for many that fought for these men. I like to think we learned lessons and out grown of that ignorance. I think in today's context, tolka can lead the good fight to change the path and the masses respond better to tolka. It can be a great tool to get there.
