'27 dead' in Connecticut primary school shooting

As many as 27 people have been killed, including many children, in a shooting attack at a primary school in the US state of Connecticut, US media say.

 

At least 18 children are among the dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, the Associated Press reported.

 

State police spokesman Paul Vance said the gunman died at the scene - but would not confirm the number of deaths.

 

If confirmed, Newtown would be the second-deadliest US shooting, after 32 people died at Virginia Tech in 2007.

 

Friday's shooting is the third major shooting in the US in 2012.

 

In July attack that killed 12 people at a premiere of a Batman film in Aurora, Colorado. In August six people died at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.

He also killed his parents. Do any of you Somalianian-Americans own any guns, do you recite the 2nd amendment when you wake up as well? Here in the UK you aren't allowed to carry a knife more than 3 inches long let alone a gun!

Crazy place. What are the rule on gun ownership horta? Just a summary will do. Can any average Joe own a gun?

Anyone could own a gun, as long as ur not a felon. Gun shops do a quick background check, and u could walk out with a gun on the spot (if nothing else comes back). There are plenty of Somalis who own firearms (both legal and illegal).

Norf-You can buy if you don't have criminal record but in the South, the rules are more lax, pretty much anyone can get it.

A man in China stabbed 22 elementary students today, none of them died. So while guns aren't the cause of these incidents, they just make matters worse.

Concealed carry if you have the permit, so you can keep it with you at all times. Others use it for home defense.
