Cawaale Posted November 19, 2012 If by any chance any Palestinians reading the above comments which calls you disgusting and other names, I want to tell you that these commentators don't represent us the majority of Somalis. We are with you heart and soul. Old News. Gazans rush to help the famine-hit Gaza: The bad financial situation that Gaza Strip is going through has not stopped Gazans from listening to drought- and hunger-hit Somalis' cries for help. Imams in mosques in Gaza strip mentioned Somalia during the Friday prayers and asked Gazans to donate to their brothers in Somalia. Moreover, the Arab Doctors Union Gaza branch ran a campaign asking the people of Gaza to donate to people of Somalia. The campaign called "From Gaza hand in hand to save the children of Somalia" will last throughout Ramadan. The campaign started on the first day of Ramadan. The Union took out advertisements supporting the campaign in local radios and websites to encourage people to contribute to the campaign. It is planning advertisements on local television also. Different sections of the Palestinian society responded to the campaign. But most donations came from the local non-governmental organisations and some wealthy businessmen, according to the organisers of the campaign. One of the donors Mohammad Abd Al Latif said: "I saw the pictures of our brothers in Somalia and felt so sorry for them; I wanted to do anything to help." "The campaign aimed at demonstrating the extent of physical cohesion between the besieged Gaza and Somalia showing that the Palestinian people are capable of supporting and standing by the Somali people," said Ahmad Hathat, the public relation officer of the Union. Plus, they're a one small nation compared to dozen or so Arab countries. Lets keep this in mind alright. No, not according to these certain Orthodox Jews. They are supposed to be a "state-less People" until the return of the Messiah. They're wholly opposed to Zionism, and are sometimes seen protesting against them. The most vocal of the Rabbis is Rabbi Dovid Weiss as seen in this Al Jazeera . What the Zionist regime does is capitalize on Christian mostly Evangelical's belief that the Messiah will come only when all the Jews are in Palestine and supporting their efforts to establish a "Jewish state" will quicken the Second Coming. That's why so many right-wingers support the Likud and Zionism overall with bias towards native Muslims as well as Palestinian Christians.
Maarodi Posted November 20, 2012 Showing solidarity for the Palestinian cause and keeping abreast about Somalia are not mutually exclusive guys. After reading all of your responses you guys seem to be missing the point where you can be supportive of both entities. No need to group yourselves in the extreme (Pro-Palestine/Anti-Palestine). It also saddens be that some Somali people on here are victim to the propaganda spewed by the Zionists. C'mon guys, you all are Somali! I thought you would know better (hint hint Oba). Seriously though if you guys need to educate yourselves on the situation I can point you to many reliable sources that do a great job covering the issue. Mondoweiss.net is one source that's invaluable (even though they call for a one state -- not unreasonable btw). Also for people asking about the Kurds, Syrians, Iraqis, Afghanis, Rohingas [insert victimized Muslim group here] sympathies have to realize that all of their deaths are unjust and we are equally appalled by their situation. Their conflicts are just as much about politics/geopolitics and and ethic conflicts. Some (most) are even Muslim on Muslim violence (case in Somalia) so put away your blame card and see the reality for what it is and not make it religion specific. With that said, I would also love for young Somalis active about Somalia and it's situation. We can only become a stronger ally of the Palestinians once we get our affairs in order. Let's put that activism to good use and revive the Somali State  The gist of this thread is to become an activist for your homeland while also advocating for the homeland of the Palestinians. Right Oba?
