I am confused about this Kismayo issue. How many sides are falling out over it and who is behind what?

 

In addition, why are the PL lot making too much noise but A&T's lot are not?

 

Anyway, let us go back to the title of the thread. This is a bit of a riwaayad, is it not? How big a part do reer Macalin play in it? And, will they win?

 

This was inspired by this:

 

The son of prominent North Eastern legislator is in an Inter Governmental Authority on Development delegation that at the weekend travelled to Mogadishu, Somalia to urge the newly elected President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to change his mind on the ban on charcoal export.

 

The delegation that included Igad executive secretary Mahboub Maalim, a representative from Ethiopia and the son of a Kenyan minister in an Igad technical committee dealing with the Jubaland process travelled to Mogadishu in an attempt to arm twist President Mohamud into not supporting the UN ban.

The struggle in Kismayo is simply about resources, access to lucrative ports and booming charcoal business. To achieve this goal and realize personal ambitions, so called leaders understand it's easy to incite tribes and create discord; essentially saying this tribe is here to grab your land. As we are who we are, we fall for this and even the most sane soler will believe there's tribal agenda. And of course, there's no accountability and your tribal warlord can get away because he has your support and you will support him to the gates of hell.

 

Even I think it's humiliating to turn away the delegation from Xamar specially in the presence of foreign occupier. Those who rant against AS will do everything to undermine the very government that can bring back Somalia from the brink.

Kenya needs reliable stooges and the leadership of this particular family is best suited for this purpose. Macalin is simply harmonizing the differences among this family's leaderdship across the three borders while securing Kenya's interest, alleviating Ethiopia's fears and fattening his own wallet. Mogadishu will only spoil this grand plan should they get involved and assert some control. The only way to rebuff Xamar is to portray President Hassan,whose election was being celebrated just a month ago by everyone on SOL,as arm of his tribal elite and present warlords like Madoobe as savior of his block

 

Puntland is simply pissed at the realities on the ground. They have no real power and say in Kismayo. It's like SOls Eng Cadde thinking his tribe can dedicate anything in Kismayo. The war changed demographics.

By the way if you see Puntland promoting D bloc agenda in the Jubba, it's simply cuz they want piece of the pie not cuz they really care about the bloc. They share this behavior with reer Galmudug. They both yell D and H respectively when they need something but otherwise they will throw you under the bus.

Che is mistaken on two parts.

 

Kismayo will not be determined by post-1991 ask your friend Gabbal of current events, it will be pre-1991, with people's properties and lands coming into play. This is the same as Mogadishu, do you see Abwaan in a high ranking position in Mogadishu today? So yes, Puntlanders will have a huge say in Kismayo which is why they were given head of finances in the current 6-man administration.

 

But Puntlanders support doesn't stem from that, it's because it will be the 2nd federal state in Somalia, furthering our belief of a federal Somalia. Support was given to this administration before any positions have even been allocated. A second federal Somalia will do us good with or without their current support.

 

Terrorist supporters will have no say in this new Somalia inshallah, and their crooked political assertions neither. :cool:

making noise is a necessary component of politics. But the problem is not about certain group making political noise. The problem is president's misplaced priorities. What happened yesterday was national embarrassment, and the president is responsible. When he acted presidential sent former defense minister and his chief of staff few weeks back, the city welcomed them. But when he acted small and politicized teh whole thing, with Ali Ameeriko issuing daily threats from Nairobi against the Jubba initiative, the result is a spectacular failure.

What an insult to Puntlanders, what did we ever need from the rest of the D-block, in 20 years I have yet to find a single thing worthwhile this block has contributed and today they question our motives. The relation is a curse we bear along with the blessing we've been bestowed upon.
