BN Posted October 16, 2012 For those contemplating a return to the homeland, here are a number of opportunities by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). Everything from administrative openings, chief of staff, civil engineers, logistics, communications, safety and security, medical, public affairs, and humanitarian affairs. Salaries seem to start around 70k USD for the "P2" classifications. Closes mid November. Best of luck! http://www.aucareers.org/vacancies.aspx
Nin-Yaaban Posted October 16, 2012 If they will give me hazard pay, waive the background check (if they have one) and guarantee employment for 2yrs. I'd do it in heartbeat and sign up for a combat role. Might even get sent to my hometown Kismaayo.

Yunis Posted October 16, 2012 ^^I wanted to see any IT related jobs. They have one, 'Database Officer' with a list of duties that include monitor, backup, capture and generate data reports for their troops. This is really a data-entry position, but the pay range is at DBA specialist levels. Amisom meelna uma socdaan any time soon.

BN Posted October 17, 2012 Walee somaalidu yaab weeye. They don't even have the jobs secured and they are already making demands! But since we are the subject, I'll need a Villa overlooking Liido Beach.... Nin Yaaban, these are civilian roles but I'm sure you could take on some additional paid duties...'cleaning up remnants' of the recently departed, as they would say! Ibtisam Posted October 17, 2012 The pay does not match the personal worry, anxiety and uncertainty that goes with that area. I can't see myself passing half way up the puntiland controlled area in the next 5 years for any less than 300k per yrs. Seriously, I hope the locals can apply. They need a lucky break. Nin yaaban, oba and Haatu, they dont need anymore criminals, looters and selfish farah's- they are already out of capacity.
