Gabbal Posted October 15, 2012 Both Fartaag and Aw-Libaax are two of the signatories of the Jubbaland formation initiative. They with a large delegation representing the "Gedo" clan are enroute to Kismaayo to help lay the groundwork for the Jubbaland conference which is slated to begin meeting on Somali soil. They will be met by TFG commanders in Kismaayo from the "Gedo" clan including Gen Dhuumaal, Col Cabaas, Col Warfaa, and Col Raadeer, the man who will be taking over chairmanship of Kismaayo administration from Ras Kamboni's Ahmed Madoobe in the 20 day rotational agreement. Carafaat Posted October 16, 2012 Sheicks and Generals from Cabudwaaq? Gabbal, where are the local Gedo community leaders or politicians??

Gabbal Posted October 16, 2012 Carafaat- Your question doesn't have legitimacy. Fartaag for example was born in Baardheere but is also a resident of Kismaayo and has family there. Even if one is born in Caabudwaaq or Balanbale or anywhere else, who can deny him the right to live anywhere in Somalia particular a hub for his kin? You must also understand I use "Gedo" as a euphemism for clan. A preeminent Kismaayo family like the Sugulles or any of that stock one would still label them as "Gedo" clan or those herdsmen taken out by that Kenyan soldier using water wells in Jannay Cabdalle 80 kilometers to Kismaayo. There is a level of interaction in the Jubba Valley today that has no existed anytime before it and current analysis must reflect this geographical and social evolution. Let's ease with the negativity.
Carafaat Posted October 16, 2012 Gabbal, I only posted a question. But maybe you perceived it as negativity. The question is quite legitimate. You posted that a military commander and a Sheick from Cabudwaaq will lead the Gedo delegation to the Jubbaland Conference which is supposed to be a Political Conference. If I am not mistaken the local Gedo community opposed the last military ruler of Gedo (Barre Hiraale). Wouldnt it be better if the Gedo community is represented by their own community leaders rather then a Sheick from Cabudwaaq and military generals and colonels like Farotaag. I am sure Gedo has community leaders like any other Somali community.
Gabbal Posted October 16, 2012 I see your confusion now. Gen Fartaag and Sheekh Aw-Libaax (along with Abdi Ali Hassan) were the "Gedo" signatories in the Jubbaland conference being formed with the support of IGAD. They with Ghandi of Azania, Kamboni deputy leader, and Darwiish who was later added to represent Puntland group concerns are the signatories of the entire project. I hope you now put the relevance of these men into context.

Baashi Posted October 16, 2012 There will be new administration in the region. Kenyans want it so bad they won't let anyone spoil it. Madoobe has the full weight of Kenya behind him. Shekhal, Galjacal and Gedo folks have the new admin in Benadir looking after their interest. Faroole is so polarized Hart folks don't want him to be part of the negotiation. From the feeds I'm getting they succeeded extracting concessions beyond their bottomline and they are quite happy with it. All sides are happy with the final communique as it is written now. However, Somali politiking being what it is --unpredictable -- things could go south anytime. The bottom line is D block gets the most prized land in the republic -- Jubba (or Ganaane as is know in the region) river in its entirety except east bank of Bakool area. In the Somali clan balance that's huge in every aspect. The task is to finalize the deal before cowboys (Gedo and OG) ruin the whole thing Lets wait and see. Sxb according to Zack and Gabbal they already own Gedo and most of Jubba. Kismayo and its port are the real issue's. Baashi so dhawee tolka this time and dont call in support of Al Shabaab to kick out tolka like last time.
