Alpha Blondy Posted September 13, 2013 Reeyo;977388 wrote: Haha, hellow Al, I hope your evening of entertainment was splendid. hi Reeyo, thanks for asking. it was excellent, ruunti. we read two major poems. 1. Guur aan ka la'aado by Aw-Yuusuf Barre - about the old way of doing things. very traditional and based on the nomadic life in late 19th century/ early 20th century in Kilika 5-aad. read it, if you can. not outdated at all. 2. Guur aan ka la'aado by Cabdulqaadir Xirsi Siyaad (Yamyam "AUN") - new version of the older poem but wrote it the 1970s/1980s in mind. shows the changes in attitude and the corruption of society overall and more particularly in Somali women. ---------------- we then added our own version of events to proceedings....................to reflect the nature of Somali women today. it was magnificent, really. ;) hope all is well xagaaga, inabti? Al.
