At the general assembly of the UN, one could see the leader of the tiny, sinking Pacific island of Nauru(ever heard of it?) giving speeches and rubbing shoulders with the world leaders. However, there was no sign of the president of Taiwan- an economic, technological, and military powerhouse by any measure. Does that mean the international community respect Nauru more than Taiwan?

The president of Somaliland may not be on the hunt for autographs, but the world knows that just like Taiwan, Somaliland is a free, democratic, and prospering country with no foreign boots on its soil.
