Xaaji, i know we wore/wear similar clothes. But the way we wrap our cimaamad is distinctly Somali, as you can see in the pics u posted. Only one oday is wearing it in the Saudi style.

There are Somalis who wear the Cimamaad like the Arabs and there are others who wear it in a different style for instance like xaaji Cabdi waraabe

The 3rd pictures are Sheikhs and Mullahs one is the son of Sheikh madar his name is Sheikh Yusuf the one with the big beard

But Faisal cali likes to wear it different but its not a Somali style the sudanese wear it like that to some of them and the Eritrean Muslims.

By Somali style I mean it's indigenous and not borrowed. Ofcourse others could wear it like us too like u've mentioned.

But now, no odey dhaqameed with any self respect would go out without his best koofi baraawe and distinct Soomaali cimaamad:

 

 

 

Waa dhaqankeena wanaagsan tan maanta. Cimaamadahaas Soomaalida bas isticmaasho, iyagaana saas u saarto. And I am glad to say more and more people are using this cimaamad than the Sacuudi, Khaliiji and Falastiini versions, to make a statement. Even Barbaarta didn't like this cimaamad because apparently it promotes the distinct Soomaali culture. You would hardly see any Barbaarta wearing cimaamad like this.

 

There is also the shaalka version with koofi baraawe. Instead of cimaamad garbaha la saarto, shaal ayaa la isku wareejiyaa si huwasho ah.
