burahadeer Posted August 27, 2012 MO FARAH NOW PROUD FATHER OF TWO TWINS ABOVE: Mo Farah with his family during the Olympics The beaming Team GB runner then vowed to keep his promise to compete in a two-mile race in Birmingham today 26th August 2012 By Dominik Lemanski Your Shout ( 1 ) DELIGHTED Olympic hero Mo Farah announced yesterday he had become a dad to twin girls. And the beaming Team GB runner then vowed to keep his promise to compete in a two-mile race in Birmingham today. Speaking on Twitter the star – who was present at the birth and is a twin himself – announced: “Great news about the birth of my little baby girls! Twins...! Thanks to my wife..!! Shabbba!!” But he won’t be rushing to be at his wife Tania’s bedside. Instead, he will compete in the Aviva Grand Prix where he could threaten Steve Ovett’s 34-year-old British outdoor record of 8:13.51. The 29-year-old Somalian, who won the men’s 5,000m and 10,000m at the London Games earlier this month, said: “My wife gave birth to two little beautiful girls. It is very exciting.” But when asked about going to her bedside he baulked, adding: “No, no, no, I’ve got a race tomorrow, haven’t I?” Later he joked: “My wife has been holding on so long and it’s great that she held on this long and didn’t give birth on the track!” And when asked to compare fatherhood to wining Olympic gold, he added: “It’s completely different. It’s out of your control. It was weird but as a father I’m very proud. To have three kids in the family is going to be exciting.” And the star also revealed that, although he and his wife have not yet named the twins, he will be engraving the tots’ names on both his Olympic medals. He said: “I am actually going to get their names on it, once we’ve figured out something with the medals – one on each. And then whatever one was born first gets the 10,000m and the other gets the 5,000m one.” Mo is already stepfather to Tania’s daughter from a previous relationship, Rihanna. Last week it was revealed Mogadishu-born Mo is heading for a bumper payday as a result of his double Olympic success. He is set to earn between £250,000 and £500,000 from a sponsorship deal with Virgin Media. And he has also reportedly earned £500,000 from other endorsements including Lucozade and retail giant Nike, taking his earnings to an estimated £2.5million a year. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/268971/Mo-Farah-now-proud-father-of-two-twins/#comments
