My point is that for most of them it's probably not an act. In North Korea, the "dear leader" was in control of the media and all government institutions. He had the tools to tell the people whatever he liked. One of which was that he was the best leader they could ever have. If you're not given room to dissent, how could you know any better?

 

Humans are emotional beings and it's easy to manipulate them. Remember how Somalis got excited about Sheikh Sharif? How many before that (or the fallout in Somalia) were besotted with aabihi garashada?
