Maaddeey Posted August 11, 2012 HSM administration in Hiiran distributes portable irrigation equipment to the farmers in the region The new equipment will help farmers in the region irrigate their crops by pumping water from the river onto the farms. What initially began as a pilot project in Hiiraan will soon extend to the regions where Jubba & Shabeelle rivers cross Hundreds of farmers are expected to benefit from the project in the coming months insha-Allah. HSM encourages local farming so that farmers become self-sufficient & local population gets out of the vicious cycle of food aid dependency

GaraadMon Posted August 11, 2012 Where was this equipment during the famine? They just need to increase tax revenues from farming as the latest U.N resolution will cause them to lose sales from charcoal exports. Funnily enough, the charcoal industry has caused desertification in the South and intensified the famine.

If they would stop the fighting, larger scale irrigation projects could be put in to place. I'm not going to congratulate murderers for handing out breadcrumbs.
