Prime Minister Abdiweli personally lobbied UN's Ban Ki Moon to move the UN Political Office for Somalia from Nairobi to Mogadishu. On January 25th 2012, the government gave families illegally residing in former government buildings 12 days to clear the premises. After the expiry of the deadline, police and security forces began implementing a large scale operation to clear government property. Civil society organisations estimate that more than 10,000 illegal residents have been removed from government buildings so far. Public- and state-owned buildings that have been cleared include the National Theatre, the old Shabelle University campus, the clothing market, the Mogadishu Polytechnic Institute, the Banaadir region administrative headquarters, "The Mother's House", an administration building in Lido and the Somali Airlines building. In the last year, Turkish premier Racep Tayyep Erdogan, Saudi prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal, British Foreign Secretary William Hague, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon have all visited the Somali capital.
