New Article From Al-Arabiya

What can explain this? While the recent presence of African Union troops has provided greater security, allowing the entrepreneurial spirit of the Somali people to flourish, less recognition has been given to Somalia’s own leadership. In particular, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, Prime Minister of the Transitional Federal Government, has played a central role in Somalia’s revival.

Nabad-gelyo ayuu keenay bay ku dhihi doonaan. Isagu Ma AMISOM buu isku dubbaridey oo uu biilaa iyagaa dalka xoreeyee? Shariif baaba ciidanka uga dhow Abdiweli markii runta laga hadlo. Wasiirro khatar ah oo la sheego dowladdiisu ma leedahay? Dastuurkaan illaa 2004 baa la qorayey. Raodmapka he has no choice inuusan fulin, that is why ay Faroole iskaga horyimaadaan because amarka ayuu si fiican u qaatay Abdiweli. Inuu nin aan idaacaha ka caytamin yahay waa lagu tilmaami karaa. Horta lacagtii IMG u haysateyna aaway? Miyaa loo cafiyey?

Abdiweli has brought a new level of professionalism to Somali politics. He is highly educated, western technocrat who achieved in a very little time the completion of the road map. He has run a more efficient administration using the little at his disposal. Though he disagreed on every ing with Sharif we never heard an issue or complaint from him. He did his job regardless and kept an eye on the ball.

He has visited Puntland, Beledweyne, Balcad, Jowhar, Baidoa and all. He has worked with every clan and region well. With Galmudug even spending a night in Baraxlay, he has worked with reer Hiiraan well and with Mogadishu above all.

Abdiweli has set out a clear vision of what Somalia should be. He is a sober realist and not a fake populist.

Again which politician matches the man's understanding of the issues and complexities that are faced by the Somali people?

Again those who hate are doing so because of clan, because of Puntland and nothing else.

Yes, he proved them wrong by referring them to accounting by an American firm the TFG signed contract with in 2011. He's all clear, what about Farmaajo, we have no explanation or even the Shariifs! :D

However, Abdiweli was the one who planned and devised the road map, there's no doubt about it. It was coordinated with money from the UN but it was his brainchild!

Somalia rising after two decades of civil war and unrest.

It turns out that his sober, technocratic approach to politics was just what the country needed. Under Ali’s “Roadmap for the End of Transition”, representatives from across the country are working to create permanent democratic institutions by 20th August. For the first time, popular legitimacy is the end-goal. Under Ali’s leadership, a draft constitution has been ratified by a council of 825 Somali traditional elders, and will be put to a national referendum, paving the way for democratic elections in the near future. The constitution gives unprecedented control to Somalia’s independently-minded regions – which will even be granted powers over foreign policy – and guarantees that women will make up at least 30 per cent of parliamentarians, as well as constitutionally enshrining their right to an abortion when the mother’s health is in danger.

Abdiweli's achievements are as clear as the sun. To think that some here are getting upset for no other reason than his clan lineage.

Somalia would be lucky to have Abdiweli as President. He undertsand the outside world and the internal workings of the Somali State very well.

Somalia’s True Political Heavyweight....Dr. Abdiweli the choice for 2012

Mogadishu Sabti 11 August 2012 SMC

Thanks to a new constitution and improved security in and around the Somali capital, the nation of 10 million is getting a fresh start. International efforts to stabilize Somalia have picked up and outside investment is pouring into the country in record numbers.

The man maneuvering Somalia’s ‘Roadmap’ plan and the path to peace is not entirely the result of foreign security and intervention–the bulk of the credit goes to Somalia’s own leaders, and in particular its prime minister Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali.

Dr. Ali was brought fresh from his job as a professor at New York’s Niagara University in June 2011. During his short time in office, the premier has navigated his way out of the feuds that once engulfed the Somali leadership, and focused his attention instead on how to get the war-torn country out of twenty years of civil war.

With Ali at the helm, Somalia’s draft constitution was approved just a week ago. The prime minister’s Roadmap for the End of Transition will soon usher in the end of Somalia’s decade-long struggle for legitimacy.

The prime minister’s constitution gives power back to the Somali women and allows Somalia’s fledgling state-administrations to exercise powers even over their own foreign policies.

What makes Ali’s rise to power unbelievable is that he has done most of his work under the worst famine in the region in over half a century.

The premier’s security policy has also pushed Al-Shabaab militants into a small corridor of power, and much of this came at a time when President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed was unwilling to work with regional powers against the armed insurgent group. By the end of the next president’s term, Al-Shabaab will be a distant memory, and this will come entirely as a result of Dr. Ali’s brilliant security plan.

Ali’s leadership has garnered attention far beyond Africa. In the last year, Turkish premier Racep Tayyep Erdogan, Saudi prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal, British Foreign Secretary William Hague, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon have all visited the notoriously dangerous Somali capital.

The prime minister has proven, most importantly, that Somalia can count on a moderate, pragmatic, and logical leader to push it forward. No more do Somalis have to listen to militant pseudo-Sheikhs and illiterate clan elders for guidance.

Despite his lack of experience and relative youthfulness, the prime minister has proven his ability to connect with all levels of society. And that he is not just limited to dealing with professionals of his own caliber.

With Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali as president, Somalia can not fail.

Somali PM charges aid agencies with not properly helping drought hit.Saudi Government grants $60 million aid to Somalia.UN to set airlifting food to Somalia. WFP Airlift Aid Delayed By Clearance Issues

The prime minister of Somalia's transitional federal government on Tuesday charged international aid agencies, including those of the United Nations, with not properly assisting his drought-displaced citizens.

Abdiweli Mohamed Ali made the comments during a fleeting visit to the several camps for drought-displaced people in the districts of Wadajir, Waberi, and Hamarweyne of the capital Mogadish.Accompanied by members of his cabinet, the mayor of Mogadishu and police, Ali walked through the camps to observe the situation of the displaced residents.“We will launch full and tough accountability measures to trace how the aid agencies are assisting those who are in desperate need for help,” the prime minister told reporters at a camp near Mogadishu’s international airport where 1,800 drought-affected people are encamped.

“They [aid agencies] are given money claiming they will help Somalia, despite that the people who arrived at Mogadishu are dying of hunger and that is unacceptable absolutely,” he explained, citing the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and other organizations in Mogadishu as examples. The prime minister’s statement comes a day after Mogadishu Mayor Mohamoud Ahmed Nur disclosed that more than 85,000 people, who had fled from drought-hit regions, had reached the capital in search of food and water.

After al Shabaab banned aid agencies from operating in the areas they control, some UN and local organizations moved into the government controlled areas in Mogadishu.

The prime minister said the government, with the collaboration of Arab nations such as Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Qatar, has managed to relocate and help thousands of drought-hit people in the capital. Aid is delivered to the camps but Ali noted UN agencies, which the prime minister said have some aid stored in Mogadishu, have yet to distribute it.No comments were immediately available from aid agencies. I have seen him with my own eyes, I don't need a video to proof anything. He was so embarrassing he couldn't speak proper Somali, every two Somali words, he throw in an English word. I don't know what clan hate you are talking about, but I don't want no incompetent politicians like him and Sharifka leading Somalia.
