Eid Is Not What It Use To Be Somaha?

after tonight’s 200m final and night of power prayers, the two biggest events of the month; the OLYMPICS and Ramadan are virtually over! on Friday morning you'll probably get this feeling of anti-climax and strange disappointment lol. you know the type you get when you've wasted a precious moment and then get that quick realisation 'was that it?'.

 

this morning i was listening to the radio and the sheikh was talking about the commercialisation of Eid. he was rather explicit in his concerns and was not shining away from expressing his thoughts on the matter. he said 'the last 10 days of ramadan are supposed to represent a time of reflection and a time of increasing good deeds but it seems like it's become a commercial bonanza and this shows the greed and moral corruption of 'our' nation'. he added 'we should punish those who seek to benefit from ramadan and turn it into a commercial extravaganza, a western idea transplanted wholly with the hope of corrupting the souls of our people.' he further added ‘those whose aim is to make a quick buck are indeed shameful and have developed a great capitalist facade with which to sell more goods in bulk'

 

is eid becoming like christmas? empty and meaningless! Well I've felt like that in the past. And I’m sure you'll agree that when you haven’t fasted nor prayed like everyone else then you don’t deserve to celebrate in style, you know. i felt like that for the last two years but this year i can’t believe I’m almost there and so determined still, something has changed my luck and it’s good to be good again lol.
