The week belongs to Sheikh Shariif: He is the favourite to win!

Recommended Posts

Abdiweli, Farmaajo and others are distant underdogs according to latest maneuverings. Sheikh Shariif has lots of cash and is making big promises to various "rival clans". A big chunk of the expected “new” Parliament is already “in the bag for him” according to reliable sources. He is also making strategic alliance with Shariif Xasan. There are still few weeks left and many things can change, but the current political setup in Mogadishu heavily favors the famous Quran teacher. Still unknown are the underhand influences of Mahiga, Musaveni and the US, but the week belongs to the good teacher for he has not wasted a minute.

It is getting quite exciting. We shall see where the next week ends.

The battle of constitution is decisively won by those favoring federalism as the future structure of Somalia. Congrats from Garowe and Hargeysa, and deafening silence from Mogadishu is clear sign with respect to the passage of the constitution. Sharif has ( I believe ) the support of the certain stake holders, he has the home turf, he has the money and the political machine to win this thing in the next few weeks. In the current field of candidates , I do not see a real competitor.

One factor though is whether the rumored corruption charges materializes...

^ Regarding the silence from Mogadishu, we all know what it is they want.

This wasn't a contest to begin with. Shariif was going to win anyway.

^^Abwaan thought a fellow called hebel Bidaar with nice hair will win it . And Mr. Oba was swearing that his candidate Baadiyow will make a strong showing ...

Who is your candidate , Haatu?

Aw Xiin......I think we need to stop pretending Somalis or their 'leaders' have say over what happens in Somalia or who leads the country. Sharif was rescued by the West when he fled after the courts were dismantled and was put in power by the same west. No matter how much money he has or how many MPs he bribes, at the end his fate will be decided by others.

Xiin, Oba and Abwaan are just cheer leading for their cousins without thinking rationally like a lot of people here nothing wrong with that.

My candidate is Prof. Samatar but he isn't going to win sadly.

Bal, who's yours?

Che, I very much agree with you on that. I said the reason he may win is because the West and other stakeholders heavily invested in him.

Haatu, my candidate was the roadmap , and it appears it will win. I want Somalia to shed off this transitional status. I could care less who leads after the transition period...I am very optimistic about our country today than I ever was.

A painful period is receding behind us , and in to the past,.

Somalia shall rise and prosper

Nah, It sounds that you have not been reading my recent comments about this fella. He is not bad but I wouldn't vote for him as a president. Oba is his biggest supporter here in SOL.:D

99% Sheikh Shariif Sheikh Ahmed will be re-elected as the President of Somalia in 2012. The reality is Sheikh Shariif has no real opponent.
