The laziness and corruption in the Somali government is holding this country hostage. The squabble over trivialities like the capital or borders will result in mini states like Somaliland and Puntland and many others to form their own countries. This line "well-armed men some linked to the TFG’s forces are now gang raping women and children on a full time basis" is a reminder that this country has devolved into such a state that it will require generations to remove this barbarity.

Somalia

I am not sure if this is a new phenomena at all but Hassan also highlights a new comer, an emerging British-Somali warlord called Tarsan, the Mayor of Mogadisho, who is applying his own laws. In this week alone, he was reported to have collected from Mogadisho an impressive number of 3,000 individuals in what Somali news outlets called the biggest cleaning up operations since the withdrawal of al-Shabaab. Apparently they are members of the group or maybe sympothisers, nobody cares really since they would be locked away for as long as Tarsan, the judge and the only jury, likes. Paradoxically he himself was a very keen supporter of the UIC and its military wing al-shabaab, and later became its spokesperson in the EU

Beside this apparent animosity against women and opponents, currently Mogadisho is hosting about 60 male presidential candidates, who mainly have no interest in other than Mogadisho, and have unwavering commitment to destroying the federal system they are about to join.

Chimera

Piece of sh1t article. Somalia is moving forward regardless of whose president, prime-minister, mayor or ugaas. All these nasty characters will still be here five years from now, just as the nasty South Korean characters were still there five years after the Korean War and beyond, but the country move forward nonetheless.

As long as there is a superstructure or the resemblance of one it will be infinitely better than our current predicament.

That is completely silly. Please just put the statements in this article into perspective:

Somalia's problem right now is that there isnt a strong State with strong institutions. So all of those Criminals who otherwise would be in Prison are walking around, harassing and raping women and children. With the introduction of a Court System and a Prison System, these Criminals will be locked up and sentenced.

Criminals exist in every society. The problem we have as Somalis is that our criminals are living amongst the general public instead of sitting in Prison.

As Somalia returns to stability and peace inshallah, a new generation of Politicians and Leaders will emerge who will be FAR more competent and sincere than the likes of Sheikh Sharif. As long as the System is in place, there are endless possibilities. People need to stop focusing on ****** and petty politicians and instead focus on the SYSTEM.

Leaders come and go. People fail to see that
