ailamos Posted July 10, 2012 IPSWICH, Mass. (AP) – AT&T says it is dropping its legal fight against a Massachusetts businessman whose company was on the hook for a fraudulent million-dollar phone bill. The telecommunications company said in a statement Monday it is no longer pursuing its claims against Michael Smith of Ipswich, "though we are entitled by law to collect the amounts owed." Smith said the offer depends on his dropping a countersuit. He'll meet with his attorney about it on Tuesday. Smith says someone hacked into his small manufacturing company's phone system in 2009 and made nearly $900,000 in calls to Somalia. AT&T sued Smith for $1.15 million to recover the cost of the calls plus interest. Smith told The Salem News he repeatedly asked AT&T to write off the bill. He said paying it could force his business to close. http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/telecom/story/2012-07-09/att-million-bill-somalia/56111174/

Carafaat Posted July 10, 2012 Does it have anything to do with the company that installs US telephone lines/numbers in Somalia, the one which my family uses to call for free day and night to Somalia. If so, it needs to be shut down. wee na wareeriyeen.

Bluelicious Posted July 10, 2012 Some people are hungry for money. The Somali person who did this should be ashamed of him/her couldn't he/she get Skype.

Aaliyyah Posted July 10, 2012 lol@ carafaat..way na wareeriyeen kulahaa. Dhaaf dadka hala hadlaan dadkoode. As for the topic, this is crazy stuff. Who would do such thing?..Why didn't they investigate more and find out who did it? I can't believe they are dropping the charges. p.s this reminds me of a story I was told where a somali guy was talking rather loud in a local bank. And, people who were there said it sounded like he was talking to somalia since he was rather loud (you know those receptionist desks in the banks, I believe it was briefly left unattended lol).I believe thou he was escorted out of the bank right there and then kolay million dollar uma maleenayo in uu bangiga kusoo dalacay lol. But, I mean someone like him must have done this lol...
