Well if you know someone could be attacked, isn't it the job of the Police to protect that person!!! Somali people are killing individuals even inside the mosques, why do you think its gonna be different in the Haj (mind you you don't need a gun to kill someone).

who would attack him in the sanctuary of Allah - this is not just any masjid (even the jahiliya arabs understood this)

 

(For the protection of the Quraysh. The caravans to set forth safe in winter and in summer. So let them worship the Lord of this House. Who has fed them against hunger, and has made them safe from fear.) (106:1-4)

 

Allah reminds Quraysh how He blessed them by granting them access to His sanctuary which He has made (open) to (all) men, the dweller in it and the visitor from the country are equal there, and whoever enters it is safe, because he is in a place of great security, although the Arabs of the desert round about used to ambush and raid one another and kill one another. ^^it was the eighties - but that was different case alltogether - although i even heard the Germans were involved in that action (which raises all sorts of questions).

 

As for Juxa's question it is not irrelevant nor emmotional - i remember reading/hearing hadith about a leader of the muslims being asked about the people that he was responsible for on the day of judgement and that this scared one of the rightly guided khalifas (RA) to the point of being worried about being asked about goat that stumbled and injured itself.
