Plus He knows his qabiil have a zero chance to get the top post this year. If they are smart, they need to support another candidate condition being that he will give them the prime minister ship position.

I don't know what kind of guy baadiyow is maybe a good guy, but the way the dud sounded on aljazeera was like any other somali fadhi ku dirir. it was pretty bad the way he was going off topic as all somalis do when arguing, and you could see the contempt of the reporter who ended asking all the relevant questions about Somalia the UN guy who was more articulate and that makes you sad.

I myself would have loved to see a new president for Somalia needs one. But America's terror-fighting strategy in the Horn coupled with ever increasing Turkish interest in Mogadishu suggests this is no time for a new comer. Trained, and trusted, Sharif offers continuity. The other Sharif Hasan from Baydhabo, and the Harvard educated Prime Minister fail on the Clan balance measure. Puntland (where the prime minister hails) were given the lead to flesh out the framework by which Somalia ends the transition, and on the bases of which a new republic is constituted. Faroole judiciously chose to lead on that account , but the price was to concede the leadership to the H community in the next five years or so. Our good Professor. In 2012 Mogadishu, and with a community that lacks a unifying leadership, Sharif is the man to beat in this August election. America has its fingers in the scale though , and for that the outcome of this so called election is transparently fixed.

 

The rest, including Farmaajo, is a necessary noise. The West, even when it is clear there is no such a thing as democracy in Somalia, has a peculiar ritual, perhaps to comfort itself ....

TFG LEADERS CONTINUE TO INTERFERE AND IGNORE GROWING PUBLIC DEMAND FOR TRANSPARENCY IN THE SELECTION OF NEW MPs

 

 

 

Mogadishu, Somalia - July 29, 2012 – The campaign office of Dr. Abdurahman M. Abdullahi (Baadiyow) is dismayed by the fact that TFG leaders continue to interfere in the selection of new members of parliament despite numerous complaints about that from many quarters, including the traditional elders themselves.

 

 

 

The public outcry for a more transparent, merit-based selection process seem to be falling on deaf ears as TFG leaders continue to pressure the elders into selecting members of parliament who are more likely to elect them back into power. This blatant corruption and disregard of the public interest must stop.

 

 

 

The campaign office of Dr. Badiyow once again calls on the TFG leaders to allow the selection process to take its due course without obstruction or influence. It also calls on the esteemed traditional elders to reject all interference and to proceed with their national and religious obligations to select competent parliamentarians. We specifically call on them to:

 

Be fair and neutral in selecting the new members of parliament

Select individuals on the basis of their knowledge and experience so that the next parliament would be one that can shoulder its legislative responsibilities

Be extremely cautious and vigilant about anything that may reignite conflict among the various clans and sub-clans

 

The culture of impunity and endemic corruption by TFG leaders must come to an end in order to restore our national institutions and regain our dignity as people. Dr. Abdurahman Baadiyow and his team will continue to be at the forefront of the fight for a more transparent and accountable governance system.
