Somalia Posted June 7, 2012 http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/africa/official-somali-pirate-leader-targeted-in-helicopter-attack/2012/06/06/gJQAQTJqIV_story.html MOGADISHU, Somalia - An official from the autonomous Somali region of Puntland says its forces launched an aerial attack targeting a pirate leader in Somalia. The official said Wednesday that forces in a helicopter fired on a house in the village of Bali Dhidid where the pirate was believed to be, possibly wounding him. The official asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the press. The official said three vehicles were destroyed by the bombardment but the pirate boss identified as Issa Yuluh managed to escape. The attack comes a day after the Puntland's troops launched a raid on the pirate infested town of the Bargal. Attacks by Somali pirates off the Somali coast have reduced sharply in the first quarter of this year following a concerted international effort to eradicate piracy. Somalia Posted June 7, 2012 From an AP article from 2010 The new force will be equipped with 120 new pickup trucks — which have already arrived — and six small aircraft for patrolling the coast, Farole said. No other force in Somalia, including the Mogadishu-based central government or African Union peacekeepers, has air assets. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/dec/01/af-somalia-military-force/

Showqi Posted June 7, 2012 Lol@Moonlight Somalia, you don't need a helicopter to attack those criminals, what you need is Alpha Group that can commit the attack with accuracy and less civilian casualty.
Somalia Posted June 7, 2012 Alpha Group is trained to guard IDP camps. We already knew Puntland had these helicopters, now we are waiting for the photos. What an exciting time. Don't you think? Shall we discuss which type it may be, I think MD500.
