Xaaji Xunjuf Posted May 30, 2012 Somaliland: Sarar Regional Court Established Wednesday, 30 May 2012 17:52 AINABO (Somalilandsun) – The ministry of justice has established a high court at the recently established Sarar region. The regional high court which will have its seat at Ainabo town and will be officiated by Sheikh Hasan Sh.Salah Hasan who was elevated to a full judge upon his transfer from Gara'adag where he was the district magistrate. The establishment of the new high court at regional level was announced in a press statement released by the minister of Justice Hon. Hussein Ahmed Aideed who also revealed the replacement of the deputy attorney general Mr. Guleid Ahmed Jama. The minister informed that the deputy attorney general was replaced upon his voluntary request to leave his post for personal reasons. The statement from the justice minister further informed that Mr. Shuaib Mahmud Elmi Ahmed has been appointed as the new deputy attorney general Hon Hussein Ahmed further informed that the late Yusuf Mohamed Egal has been removal from the list of deputy attorney general. The late Yusuf who passed away a short while ago remained in the list of official deputy attorney general's until this announcement. According to the minister the changes that pertain to the current promotion, appointments etc. were effected pursuant to article 106, section 1 of the Somaliland constitution which mandates the minister with such acts. The minster further divulged that all promotions, appointments and dismissal made by his office are always as a result of recommendations from the judiciary committee, a body that is composed of prominent personalities from various professions. Though Sarar is slowly attaining full offices of an established region its status and that of others created recently are shrouded in a dark cloud as per their legality. A government minister is reported to have announced that there are only 6 regions in the country namely: Sanaag, Sool, Togdheer, Sahil, Maroodi Jeeh and Awdal. This announcement thus leaves in doubt the status of the new regions of Sarar, Oodweyne, Gabile, Salal and Hawd.
