Somali Federalism is reactionary and repulsive.

Carafaat

Maanta maanta maanta waa maalin weyne maanta. Maanta maanta maanta madaxeen bannaane manta.

With these majestic and unforgettable words, at least for those who lived during the glorious first decade after independence, the Somali and Somaliland nations used to wake up on the anniversary days of 26th of June and 1st of July 1960. These were the years of a Somali and Pan-African renaissance and nationalism (Midnimo). For many people this was a decade of great hopes and lofty dreams about uniting all Somali’s within one nation.

Nowadays some Somali's stopped dreaming of unity but seek disunity or advocate for "federalism", the legalization of a permanent division between Somali clans and people. They argue "we can't live with eachother, we can't trust eachother therefor one needs to seperate and everyoneshould have his own state."

I find this backword, reactionary and quite repulsive. It goes against everything we should be striving for, it goes against the same ideal that Somalia was founded on.

Meeshii wax qor loo qaadi lahaa, ma xaq baa ina meesha ugu hoseesaa la geeyo.

Haatu

We are one people who look alike, talk alike and walk alike. Why should we follow the example of the colonialists and divide ourselves further? Should we not act as the one people that Allah made us? Look at the other countries in the world like us. Look at Japan. Look at their unity and where it has got them. It is tragic today that there are so few Somalis left who truly understand the dangers of clan federalism and can see beyond their clan. Soomaalinimo is weeping today whilst the clan zealots rejoice in its defeat. Perhaps this is the most tragic consequence of the civil war.

Keep up the good work Carafaat and don't mind the clan zealots. Clannism has impeded their ability to think with a level head.

Liibaan

"Clan-Secessionism " is more reactionary and more repulsive

Carafaat supports the clan-secession of Somaliland, he is against Somaliland Elders and politicians in Mogadishu.

Carafaat said many times that he will accept Federal system between Republic of Somalia and Somaliland Clan, if the clan-secession project fails(Plan A). So he is against Federalism/secession as long as Khatumo, Puntland, and Galmudug, Azania are concerned (Hypocracy).

However, I agree with you both clan-federalism and clan-secessionism are both bad options. But Clan-Federalism is the lesser of the two evils.
