Looking after your teeth is important; here’s how… • Don’t rush your brushing, brush for 2-3 minutes twice a day. • After brushing with fluoride toothpaste – spit out but do not rinse out. • Help prevent gum disease by brushing away plaque where the teeth and gums meet. • Keep sugary foods and drink to meal times only • Adults need to have a check-up with a dentist regularly • Dental check-ups are especially important for people that use or smoke tobacco • NHS dental treatment is free during pregnancy and for one year thereafter. • Any changes to your mouth, lips or throat for more than three weeks, seek dental advice • Remember smoking, chewing tobacco and a high alcohol intake increases your risk of mouth cancer.
