Somali President Rejects Foreign Interference in Drafting Constitution

Mogadishu (RBC) Somali interim president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has demonstrated that he is not satisfied with some of the contents of the new draft constitution amid contradictory remarks by the government officials on the constitution.

“I share that I am not satisfied with some awful articles included into the new constitution and strongly ask to remove.” President Sharif said during his public address of the 52nd anniversary of Somali National Army.

The president acknowledged the growing suspicion and outrage by the local community against the draft constitution as he insisted that the constitution can be amended though it has not yet been adopted.

“I listened some of the elders and religious people who are worrying the constitution and I told them that it must reviewed” he added.

But in contrast, the Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali who spoke to local journalists this week said that there were no any bad things in the constitution and called for the people to prop up it.

“I see those who oppose the constitution have not read what it is talking about. First they must read it.” The prime minister said.

Well Done Mr. President, Sheikh Shariif should listen to the vast majority of Somali people who oppose the fake constitution.

He's a walking moron. This is the same man that met with one that said that the man in Dire Dawa is closer to him than the one in Mogadishu.

It's a draft constitution and has not been adopted yet. He met some elders and they told him about their worries regarding some aspects of this draft. He's now trying to appease them by making these comments. Nothing embrrasing about any of this really. The fault lies with the PM and his awful ability with "managing" the media.

Ngonge, if one is serieuz about this consultation then why call opponents or critics 'spoilers'? He could have simply said, we hear you and we are going to change those articles the Somali people disagree about. And then make some minor changes.

Xiinfaniin, Shariif truly tried to support and constructively work with pirates. Laakinse wee afduubteen last mi, sidu ninku islahaa waa iskaashi camal. :D

I have said it before and I say it again, Shariif is progressing and learning. He is mastering the game.
