Liibaan Posted May 1, 2012 Somali President Rejects Foreign Interference in Drafting Constitution Mogadishu (RBC) Somali interim president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has demonstrated that he is not satisfied with some of the contents of the new draft constitution amid contradictory remarks by the government officials on the constitution. “I share that I am not satisfied with some awful articles included into the new constitution and strongly ask to remove.” President Sharif said during his public address of the 52nd anniversary of Somali National Army. The president acknowledged the growing suspicion and outrage by the local community against the draft constitution as he insisted that the constitution can be amended though it has not yet been adopted. “I listened some of the elders and religious people who are worrying the constitution and I told them that it must reviewed” he added. But in contrast, the Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali who spoke to local journalists this week said that there were no any bad things in the constitution and called for the people to prop up it. “I see those who oppose the constitution have not read what it is talking about. First they must read it.” The prime minister said.
Naxar Nugaaleed Posted May 1, 2012 This coming from the man who was supposed to oversee the whole process, the president should not be playing politics with this.
Somalia Posted May 1, 2012 If this fails, his presidency has failed. This two time hypocrite only has the road map left.

Well Done Mr. President, Sheikh Shariif should listen to the vast majority of Somali people who oppose the fake constitution.

This is the same man that met with one that said that the man in Dire Dawa is closer to him than the one in Mogadishu.
Carafaat Posted May 1, 2012 “I share that I am not satisfied with some awful articles included into the new constitution and strongly ask to remove.” President Sharif said during his public address of the 52nd anniversary of Somali National Army. that is a serieuz statement one cant ignore. This process has to be stopped if even the leader of the country is calling it awfull.
NGONGE Posted May 1, 2012 uchi;825018 wrote: I don't get it, what is his job exactly? Where was he when they made it? This is embarrassing~ It's a draft constitution and has not been adopted yet. He met some elders and they told him about their worries regarding some aspects of this draft. He's now trying to appease them by making these comments. Nothing embrrasing about any of this really. The fault lies with the PM and his awful ability with "managing" the media.
Carafaat Posted May 1, 2012 Ngonge, if one is serieuz about this consultation then why call opponents or critics 'spoilers'? He could have simply said, we hear you and we are going to change those articles the Somali people disagree about. And then make some minor changes. Carafaat Posted May 1, 2012 Xiinfaniin, Shariif truly tried to support and constructively work with pirates. Laakinse wee afduubteen last mi, sidu ninku islahaa waa iskaashi camal. I have said it before and I say it again, Shariif is progressing and learning. He is mastering the game.
