it used to be very well organized during the siyad barre era, it originates from a mythical believe of harvest season.

yes 1987, it was scary, but they don't beat you if they realize you came from xamar, but them reer afgooye who know each other specially the farmers they beat hard each other, then the Guulwade police will separate them. funny but bloody some times.

Oh, I went Afgoye many many many times but sadly I have never experience Istunka.:mad::mad: Hadaad Istunka live u fiirsatay waa raaxeysatay sxb...:D

Its kind of long traditional retual based on mythical old believes of crop harvest, and every year they used to gather at the market and every man will grab a stick and beat who ever comes on his way, but when after 1969 revelation the government reformed and reduced the stick size and age participants to reduce injuries.

Mukulaloow, I remember visiting Afgooye for Eid celebrations. there was this long and high bridge with a crocodile colony underneath the bridge. Goy any name or picture of that bridge.
