small village my father's father is from. two generation of being part of the metropolitan elite, makes me glad i was born in hargeisa.

in these mountains, it is rumoured there are diamonds and all sorts of gemstones. dahabshiil will not be getting his dirty hands on our resources.

 

 

beautiful berbera from a distance. the heat was intense entering the city.

local berberawi schiool children. very educated, i must admit. we had fun and spoke quite alot about the development of the city. i attempted to quizzed them on basic literacy and numeracy but they answered my questions not only with speed but also accuracy. these kids are very intelligent, maybe due to abundant fishstock available in berbera for local consumption and export. i think there is a bright future for berbera with these kids given the right training.
