Xaaji Xunjuf Posted March 21, 2013 Somaliland president set to fly to UAE in order to meet his Somali Counterpart. Hargeisa-Somaliland president Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo accompanied by delegation set to embark trip to United Arab Emirates on Friday. The president along with the delegation is supposed to be on board on special plane that the EAE is sending in order to carry Somaliland delegation to the UAE. Once the president and the delegation he is heading set foot on the UAE soil, Somaliland president is expected to confer with his Somali counterpart, Hassan Sh. Mohamud. Reports indicate that the United Arab Emirates is hosting the first meeting of its kind that will bring together Somaliland and Somali president to hold face to face meeting. News reports further say that the two heads of states set to meet at venue that lies in the outskirts of Dubai which the UAE arranged. Then it is said that the two presidents will see where they can further proceed with the ongoing talks between Somaliland and Somalia. The talks between the two presidents will come at time that the Somali Provisional government demanded the US government to grant immunity to the Mohamed Ali Samatar in which a court in the US found guilty of crimes against humanity. The Somaliland government came under fire for the way it spoke about the appeal made by Somali provisional government and not to taking diplomatic stance. NGONGE Posted March 23, 2013 ^^ The Guru has turned into the worst kind of mucaarid these days. For the past year or so he has been attacking the government on rumours nad heresay only to be proven wrong at every turn. But, somehow, he keeps building his attacks and basing them on the previous discredited points of the past when it is plainly obvious that his previous attacks all proved to be unfounded. Now he's back to that same place again and talking about the government's botched policy even though he himself always ends up agreeing with it when the rumours prove wrong. But it's not only the guru that holds this crazy position, it's almost the whole of the opposition. An opposition that did not oppose the attendence of the previous London conference but are now hinting at it being a bad idea. An opposition that did not oppose the talks between SL & Somalia but are now in moral panic about nothing in particular and an opposition that keeps criticising the FM but have no solid points to pin on him. As for "transparent political conceit", the only conceit I see in Siilaanyo's style of government (and have mocked in the past) is his love of "guddi" and other nonsense. This is where his opposition have to grow some balls and start refusing to take part in his guddi style government instead of joining it and agreeing to it then going back to hint at some dark happenings behind closed doors and other nonsense. Wax fahama.

Mintid Farayar Posted March 23, 2013 Gentlemen, Before bullets ricochet needlessly in a crowded room filled with like-minded people, let's take a deep breath. Do not take criticism for lack of loyalty. The pressure/agitation must be kept up on any SL administration to keep them on the agreed collective path. This is necessary to prevent the usual African/Arab personal rent-seeking activities from eclipsing the larger agenda.

N.O.R.F Posted March 23, 2013 :D Ok let's start with the current policy. Thats a good starting point. What is the current SL foreign policy? I'm not a blind follower of the current govnt dee. But you haveto convince me that what you're saying is right. PM me if you have to. If you think the PM will be taken hostage then email me

But it all depends on how the pressure is applied and what arguments are put forth. The sweeping generalisations that we see from the SL opposition serve no purpose but division and mistrust. Of course, that is not to say there are genuine concerns and questions to be asked of the Kulmiye admin and their approach to Somali politics.
Mintid Farayar Posted March 23, 2013 What SL opposition are you referring to, sxb? The organized, recognized opposition back home? Or are you intimating a more nefarious agenda on the part of the Guru and I, right here on these Boards? Hmmm... Please elaborate.
NGONGE Posted March 23, 2013 ^^ You and the Guru did not invent any of the half truths aimed at the government, saaxib. I am talking about the recognised opposition back home. I am attacking a political position, not you or the guru personally.
Mintid Farayar Posted March 24, 2013 Ngonge, I'm, really, genuinely asking 'what these half-truths' are? Because I'm not aware of them currently. From the little I've read from local news sources back home, the whole top layer of leadership(gov't and opposition) is in reactive mode 24/7 to the changing landscape in the region. Actually, the whole Somali peninsula is in the same condition, but we're the only democratic/vote-based system so our laundry gets publicly aired. But from your earlier comments(a couple of posts before), some opposition action has really set you on edge. That's the explanation/telling I'm asking for.
