Samsung Posted April 9, 2012 What was once saw as his greatest political mistake by the general Somali population, is today perhaps his greatest political, and military decision. A leader who foresaw an enemy far worse than the arch-enemy he twice fought in perhaps two of the greatest military battles in post Independence African history. Al Shabaab an internal enemy that no single Somali clan can withstand. No tribal war-lord can battle. No self-governing state within Somalia stand a chance against. An foreign enemy with international backing attempting to use the weakness of a divide people for their political and military advantage. Al Shabaab the birth of a new far deadly arch-enemy of the Somali people. Luckily, for Somalia we had the right leader at the right time to take on this new challenge. A visionary who saw through the ill intentions of the masked men. His previous encounter with the blood thirsty terrorists dating back to the 90s, when he broke their plan to get a grip of northeast Somalia. To counter this challenge that rose to levels never expected in 2006, our leader understood more than ever the importance of the forceful establishment of a Somali government back in it's capital, and the dismantlement of Al Shabaab. They brought in foreigner to take on Somalis, and derail all efforts for the return of any form of government. He called in neighbors and the International community for immediate help. The survival of the Somali government was a must, the Somali parliament fully understood, and overwhelmingly agreed with President Abduallhi Yusuf to use allied forces along side the Somali army to crush Al Shabaab, and take back the capital. Now looking back at resent history, what if that decision was not taken? Would we have a Somali government in Mogadishu today, gaining strength, popularity and wider support from Somalis across the board. Would we be headed out of transitional government to permanent governance for the Somali people. Somalis have today finally seen the true colors of these terrorists, thanks to Abdullahi Yusuf we have an alternative today, which is a Somali government. We were all anger with him for bringing our arch-enemy to our soil, we protested and yelled. But today we understand why that decision was taken, today we understand we have a far worse enemy than Ethiopia in our soil. A divided nation like Somalia has no alternative to fight and expel this enemy, who we were not prepared to deal with. Today we have expanded the decision once made by Abdullahi Yusuf may god bless his soul. Today Ethiopia is once again helping us get rid of Al Shabaab from Gedo, to Bay, Bakool and Hiiraan. The Kenyans will help us liberate other places like Kismayo and the Jubba valley. An expanded African Union force has helped us expel the terrorists out of our capital. They along with Sierra Leon who have just joined this continental effort to help Somalia fight and expel this enemy, while the nation comes back on it's feet, and government builds the culpability to take on tthis enemy along. Until than the African Union along with Ethiopia will help our government keep gains made against Al Shabaab. President Sheikh Sharif at the national funeral of our late President Abdullahi Yusuf, stated that we Somalis have inherited a government from Abduallhi Yusuf thanks to his efforts and hard decisions he made on our behave. A legacy that will only grow stronger if we unify under this government and take on this enemy as one nation. by Mohamed Warfa
