31st Anniversary of the SNM, what is their legacy to the Somali people.

Carafaat

31 years ago the SNM (Somali National Movement), a liberation front against dictatorial regime of Somalia, was officially founded.

The SNM struggle was a Somali struggle for freedom whose objectives and aspirations were based on the removal of that cruel system which was characterized by inhumanity, injustice, violance, greed, crimes against humanity. Those young people picked up arms did not fight for secession, they did fight for an own goverment, they did not fight for political chairs or shares. They stood for the aspiration of the Somali people, those who struggled so long and hard to have basic human rights, freedom, justice, security, equal rights.

Today we remember those young people who died in the struggle against a dictatorial regime. We ask God to rest their souls in peace. They were martyred and died for a just cause, the cause of the Somali people. We say their death was a just one. May God console their bereaved relatives. We see that they did their duty.

They have not left us empty handed, but left us with a legacy that we cherish till today. They left us with courage, confidence and a belief that we are masters of our destiny. Never again will any Somali accept a dictatorial rule, never again will a Somali accept injustice, never again will a Somali remain a silent bystander when his basic human rights and freedom are at stake. They died for a just cause that is being continued till today by the Somali people in diffrent forms, in diffrent places, against diffrent rulers and maybe in diffrent ways. The Somali people have rised up and their cry remains the same: ‘We want to be free.’.

You lose in war and you suck in peace...we spared you all in 1991...if you want another war bring it...this time we will not stop till every village has Somaliland's flag over it.

no amount of books can change Barres history....i love the guy. I mean he single handedly destroyed Somalia, he failed to play the soviets against the americans, he lost somali galbeed because of ****** choices, he then bombed Somaliland leading to them leaving the union with Somalia. what can i say...LEGEND. :D

Somalilanders destroyed his entire regime numbering 3000.. what chance do you guys have against an armed state with international financial backing with a passionate and determined populous. :D

siad Barre you legend...or in his words. Ma ma Mia, Gelato mio Bonjourno.

Lowest lives that have ever walked on Somali soil. Incubators of Al-Qaida of Somalia. Clandestine killers of Somali people in Mogadishu. Dreamers of a dream that will never be realized ever if they prepare a "he-goat" as a rocket to the moon...

lets be honoust with ourselves now... Somaliland was the first indepedent country, it fought for the liberation of Djibouti, it united Somalia and Somaliland. It was africa's only country to have its terms excepted by a colonial power hense the protectorate status, it destroyed the back of Africa's second largest army the list is endless...your just angry you had power for a decade and it was taken from you and returned to its rightful owners...enjoy your little desert village in gedo if you open your mouth like your father Siad Barre youll end up another refugee in Nigeria.

stop moaning.

being an italian speaking african refugee isnt that bad...you get plenty of pasta and ravioli not to mention all the gelato's a nigerian refugee camp can offer. hahaha
