Dr_Osman Posted March 31, 2012 A huge new reform unseen in somalia since the last effective govt of somalia siyad barre. This huge new reform for roads begins in Puntland. I advice all the locals to go get their driver licenses, and I suggest all the diaspora and tourists to register their international driver licenses with the roads authority. I also suggest to drivers across the regions, don't bother driving with puntland unless you register also. The road system here has order

The decision was made in order to regulate the transport industry and curb road accidents in Puntland, according to public works and Transport minister, Dahir Hajji Khalif. Speaking at a ceremony to officiate the use of the document in Puntland, Khalif said driving licence will be mandatory for all people trying to drive cars as from tomorrow. He said the move is aimed to bring sanity back into the industry and further enhance road safety in Puntland. He added that all applicants will have to undergo trainings and sit for a test before getting this vital document, saying that only those who pass the driving test will have the opportunity sit behind a steering wheel. This is the first legal document to be introduced in Puntland since 1998 when it was declared autonomous.
