Northern words.

you guys messing things up.All the following same on both sides.

 

 

cadceed=qorax

buul= aqal ( bool is used in miyiga in north..small aqal somali)

dibnaha=bishmaha

lumay=halaabay

hooyo=hooyo

iminka=hadeer

shafka=xabadka

haraad=oon

baqasho=cabsi

I must admit, I only understood maybe 20% of the words listed here. The northern dialect is very complicated. :)

hiirta waaberi. = dawn ama (waaga markuu soo bixi rabo)?????

hambaabir???.

turunturo. = Qofka markuu simbiriraxdo.

sagal. = damn I knew this, but can't just get it.

hibaq.????

gadoodi. = Neefku markuu diido inuu xereda galo.?

taf = (tough) waa english, waa waxa adag, laakiin soomaalidu waxay u isticmaashaa qofka caqliga badan ee khatarta ah.

hambaabir=get up for few seconds in the middle of sleep or all of a sudden woke up to the fact (ma iminkaad soo hambaabirtay...i.e catch up with reality.

 

sagal=sagal arooryaad...the scenery or beautiful colors at sunrise(girls name,too,for that reason).

 

hibaq=certain beautiful flower.(girls name too for that reason).

taf= tafta dumarka....that front part of Dirac/guntimo etc women hold on to(like cuff).

turunturo= not exactly simbrirxasho but close...it's like your foot hit a rock & you fall forward while simbirirxasho is slide on something smooth like cement.

huruud. = Jaalle ama yellow ama huruuda dumarku ay wajiga marsadaan.

oodkac. = oodkac ama nuqmad.

qasil. = qubeys?

Karbash(2 meaning)= flogging, ama jeedal.

salaad(not prayer). = ?????

sibiq = si aan la dareemeyn. dhuumaaleysi?

Qasil= crushed leaves of Gob tree used as shambo both on hair & face by women.(somali)

Karbash= second meaning is mattress like you put on camel before you load it.

salaad= crushed white lime stone men used on their hair (look blond)as a shambo.It can stay on for couple hrs or a day.(somali)

I am well aware of that but I was laughing at Xaji Xunju's Murayad=Ukuyaalo comment.

 

I thought they were completely different. Murayad=Mirror and Okiyaalo (not ukuyaalo)=Sun glasses!
