MINNESOTA (Somalilandsun) - The government of Somaliland has invited formally the US Governor of Minnesota Mr. Mark Dayton to Somaliland.

The invitation was extended by the state through the new Minister State for Finance Hon. Osman Abdillahi Sahardeed on Thursday last week when he met the governor.

Mr. Dayton, who was accompanied by several Minnesota leaders amongst them Sen. Jeff Hayden was happy that a Minnesota resident was honoured by his country and appointed to the cabinet.

He heads the House Rules and Legislative Administration Committee and is a member of both the Health Care and Human Services Policy and Oversight Committee.

Hon. Sahardeed pointed out that SL fully supported Foreign Investment hence revealed the abundance of frankincense gas deposits and minerals in the country, which, he said, “if exploited would make SL one of the richest countries”.

He reminded the Minnesota executive that SL happens to be the only politically un-recognized country that had a President elected on a one-man-one-vote policy by the electorate.

Sen. Hayden happens to be a State Senator for Minnesota who previously represented its District 61 constituency (the first coloured member), and like wise, the first Muslim politician to triumph in a US legislative election.

Hon. Sahardeed presented traditional artifacts to Governor Dayton as special souvenir gifts from Somaliland.
