Dr_Osman Posted March 26, 2012 President Museveni offers his condolences to the Somali people 25 Mar 25, 2012 - 12:30:51 PM (Mogadishu- March 25)-My condolences and those of the people of Uganda on the death of His Excellency Abdullahi Yusuf which I only learnt of this morning. President Yusuf was a patriot and suffered a lot for it. He was imprisoned repeatedly in Somalia and outside. He demonstrated that patriotism again, only a few years ago when he stood down from the Presidency in order to create harmony. I salute his contribution to the African cause. May his soul rest in eternal peace. -- Paddy Ankunda Lt Colonel AMISOM Force Spokesman Tel: Somalia: (+252) 699 758567 (+252) 618 508181 (+252) 623 80889 Tel: East Africa: (+256) 772696070 (+256) 713914411 Email: amisomforcehq@gmail.com paddyankunda@yahoo.com

Carafaat Posted March 26, 2012 President Of Somaliland Sent A Message Of Condolence To The People Of SomaliaHARGEISA(SomalilandPress)-Somaliland President H.E Mohamed Mohamud (Silanyo) has sent message of condolence to the people of Somalia and family of the former President of Somalia late Abdillahi Yusuf Ahmed who passed away on 23rd March 2012 in UAE Hospital where he was undergoing medical treatment. President Silanyo on behalf of the people of Somaliland said that we are deeply saddened by the untimely death of late Abdillahi Yusuf Ahmed, President Silanyo sent his deepest sympathy to the people of Somalia, family and friends. One of 18 children, Yusuf was born in Galkayo in 1934, now one of the largest cities in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland that Yusuf himself helped to found. At the age of 19, Yusuf was selected by the Italian Trusteeship of Somalia as one of 14 cadets invited to attend Cesano military academy in Rome. Upon Somalia’s independence in 1960, he was one of 13 founding officers of the Somali National Army (SNA), and in 1964 he served as Somalia’s first military attache to the USSR. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed, though Yusuf had been suffering from a liver ailment that required him to seek regular treatment abroad. In 1996, Yusuf had undergone a transplant procedure that subsequently made him the world’s oldest surviving liver transplant patient.
