He made some bad political decisions in his long life, but nonethless had realized the threat political islam posed to Somalia before anyone. I did not like his politics and dictatorial tendacies, but I have always felt he was a good man at a personal level. Avancular and humorous, Abdualli Yusuf was a dedicated family man. He also was not a greedy politician with a mentality of grab and run what you get, unlike Faroole. I respect this man and I truely mourn his death.

 

I can't explain why, but I always had a soft spot for him. He seemed a man who believed in what he does and what he says. You cannot say that about Faroole, the charlatan who now leads puntland politics.

 

May Allah grant him the Janna and give the strength to take this loss to his family. RIP!

The mood in Mogadishu is Sombre. Every cafe and hotel discussion centres around how he saved the nation from the wilderness to a nation that at least resembles a state. People are realising he was way ahead of his peers when recognising threats from the militants and agree with his actions.

 

The view here is that he had no choice but to use whatever means he could. Given the current administration and how they are heavily reliant on the Amisom forces he brought to the country simply proves that he needed the capacity more than he had at the time to regain the Capital for the country from warlordism, shabaab and other groups all hiding behind the banner of Islam.

 

It is also widely agreed he wasn't a greedy man as abtigis points out and he truly believed in what he say and did. At the time I opposed him, but I see the wisdom of his actions and judging by the enemy he faced that are killing innocents everyday, the man had a point. I have just heard he will be buried officially here in Mogadishu and I will keep you informed inshallah

Dubai(Puntlandi)- Former president of TFG , and founder of Puntland , Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed , passed away on Friday in Dubai, at the age of 78 ,Puntlandi.com reports

 

The veteran Politician and military personal, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahemd had been ailing for several weeks in Dubai , and international doctors were busy for his treatment

 

As Puntlandi learns former President would be flown to Mogadishu to make for him a national burial , participated by international leaders and dignitaries , but finally he might be buried in Galkayo, central Somalia were he hailed from

 

Born in “Birta Dheer” near Puntland’s capital , Garowe in 1934 , Abdullahi Yusuf was well known policitican since 1960s..

 

He was one of the founders of the Somali Salvation Democratic Front(SSDF), as well as the Puntland State of Somalia, where he served as the autonomous region’s first President.

 

In 2004, he also helped establish the Transitional Federal Government, which he led as President of Somalia from 2004 until 2008.

 

In 2004 he become the president of Somali Transition Federal Government after a long time running conference brokered by Kenyan Government, but he resigned later .

 

As news spread of the death of former President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, Somali citizens mainly in Puntland stared their mourning and offering prayers to veteran politician

 

Abdullahi Yusuf is considered the father and founder of Puntland, a peaceful semi-autonomous region until now
