Saalax Posted March 18, 2012 Attack On Villages By Police Force From The Ethiopian Fifth Province Mar 18, 2012 at 06:54 AM Hargeisa(Qarannews):- A contingent from a New police (LIYUU) force attacked five villages in the Ethiopian fifth province inhabited by Somalilanders, predominantly from the Gashaamo community. According to eyewitnesses, the attacking force consisted of at least 20 technicals vehicles and close to 2500 soldiers. One of the villages, Raqda Hersi Hamakow, saw some of the fiercest clashes between the LIYUU police and the local inhabitants which resulted in loss of life on both sides. Our source confirm that at least 9 police soldiers were killed in the clashes and two people from the local villagers lost their lives, with four others seriously wounded. As the result of these clashes, the LIYUU police force launched retaliatory attacks on the villages of Adaada, Galka Gondo-Libah and other habitats whilst local residents were buys tending their livestock and going about their daily business. As the result of the attack by the LIYUU police force from the Somali State of Ethiopia, several women and children were wounded. According to our sources, the residents of the villages which came under attack from LIYUU police force were able mount counter attacks and subsequently forced the LIYUU police force to flee back towards the town of Jig'Jiga. There has been recent conflicts between the residents of the Ethiopian Fifth province, mainly between the Degahbur/Qorahay community under the disguise of Liyuu Police militia and the Gashaamo community. These conflicts have led to intervention by the forces under contract from the Ethiopian Federal Government, in particular the new police. The new police have been engaged in systematic attacks on the villages in the region, and have acted as an hindrance to peace between the different communities living there. This is not the first time that such actions have taken place against predominantly Somaliland communities in the Hawd areas of the Fifth province, and it is time that the Ethiopian Federal Government took action against these rogue elements operating under its auspices. Somalia Posted March 18, 2012 Ok, I don't think Abdi likes ethnic Somalilanders, this is my theory, it's not ground breaking, I am still exploring the hypothesis. I'll let you know of the findings soon.
