kingofkings Posted March 15, 2012 According to our correspondent in Galkayo, a Turkish international aid unit arrived in Puntland a few hours ago. The delegation is made up of senior government members and engineers responsible for building roads and the airport grounds. Although this is not the first time the Turks have visited Puntland, it will be the first time they’ve visited the state for the purpose of initiating development programs of this scale. After sitting through a few meetings with Puntland officials in charge of the airport in Galkayo, they moved on to the state capital Garowe, where we’re told they’re spending the night. They’re expected to arrive in the Qardho district tomorrow where the leader of Puntland has been meeting elders the past week. In related news, the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ, is expected to arrive in Mogadishu on Tuesday. This will mark the the first Turkish Airlines flight to the Somali capital. The Deputy PM will meet with Somali officials and host the the official opening ceremony of Turkish-built facilities in Mogadishu.
