Somalia Posted March 14, 2012 BBC Monitoring Africa July 14, 2003 The chairman of the Kulmiye party [somaliland`s main opposition party], Ahmad Muhammad Silaanyo, has described the political stance of the southern Somali leaders as selfish and expansionist, not consistent with the common welfare of the people. Mr Silaanyo stressed that the faction leaders` main aim in competing for the presidential post was intended at covering up their past deeds. Commenting on the recently agreed federal system at Mbagathi peace talks, Nairobi, Mr Silaanyo said, “Federalism is the best option for the Somalis, if it can help them achieve a government and an administrative system,” urging the Somali people to strive hard for a nationhood. He urged Somali leaders to make concessions for themselves and end wrangling over the single [presidential] post, according to the statement. Carafaat Posted March 14, 2012 Dont think he was talking about Cities governed by 2 or 3 federal clan administrations. Nor was he talking about clan based security institutions As the PIS. But rather a model with strong regional inclusice States.

The Hermet Posted March 15, 2012 See how they go quiet when you propose something logical that destroys their hidden objective. You want federalism and somali unity right??? Merge with galmudug, unite galkacyo make it one city provide free movement for both peoples into one entity it makes buisness sense it makes poltical scense it makes security sense but you won't because your interested in tribal hegemony not somali unity or nationalism haha bax bax land waa funny walahi

Somalia Posted March 15, 2012 Look at these people, what does federalism mean if it isn't clan based? Siilaanyo supports federalism, why you guys mad?
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted March 15, 2012 This was 2003 at that time federalissm could,ve been a solution for somalia. But compare it to now and how things go this is not federalism.
Somalia Posted March 15, 2012 ^^ Yeah yeah, look at this guy. This is Siilaanyo saying federalism is the best option and now when we are trying to implement it, you secessionists are against it. Meaning, you don't want Somalia to succeed, it's sad if you really think about it, pathetic to be honest. The only thing that changed is, it is now possible. This might be what you would wish for, but how about other Somalis? did it ever occur to you what you see to be in your best interest does not quite fit with what others see as their best interest? or you have reached that point yet? Xaaji Xunjuf Posted March 15, 2012 Siilaanyo was talking about Somalia and not About Somaliland, Somaliland doesn't want to have clan federal states in their country subclanish sstates no thanks.
Somalia Posted March 15, 2012 Of course he's talking about Somalia, and he is part of Somalia but regardless it just shows you that opinions change quickly in your regions. Also, you don't need a federal states if you become a country (unlikely of course) because you all stem from the same clan.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted March 15, 2012 No need for clanish borders and clan states in Somaliland it doesn't bring anything to the table national unity is the way forward. Federalism like 4.5 is a temporarily solution to solve some matters in Somalia how ever that's not how Somalia is going to look like in the future.
