If you ask a lot of people to define social justice you’re going to get many different definitions which are based on a variety of factors like religious and nationality backgrounds or social/political philosophy. One day as I was surfing the net looking through different websites trying to update myself on latest issues regarding our global village, as usual, I’ve come across countless negative articles. However, on this particular day, I was flabbergasted to see a website that caught my attention which had a poster that read– SORRY…I HATE SOMALIA….I’M A SOMALILANDER, hence as a reporter had to comment.

I will not mention which website posted this despicable poster, but will say this; Somaliland, Puntland as well as south Somalian communities share and post their views on this site continuously. Be a national of Somaliland, South Somalia, Puntland or Timbuktu, as a Somaliland journalist/reporter, I am absolutely in favor of laws that make it illegal the use of unspeakable and inexcusable racist comments about a particular society and/or country. I simply see it as nothing short of sheer discrimination, and it’s wrong. On article #13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Charter says– “Everyone has the right to freedom of movement”. Meaning that we all have the right to move about freely and we also have the right to travel freely to and from our own country, and to leave any country. In conclusion, I would like to convey this to all, and that is, with lights at the end of the tunnel finally seems to be a more of realty rather than mirage or an illusion for all Somalilanders, we should all be extremely cautious on what we say or post on the net and do our very best to treat every person who walks in to our door the same way, regardless of race or nationality. Meantime, I would like to leave you with this very short (1min and 33sec) video from the UK House of Commons which was aired on Feb/2012.

There is an idea dying to come out from that article (if one could call it an article). Shame he was hasty and posted the first thought that crossed his mind.

But his point is clear. There needs to come an end to free speach, specially in SL.

You want an end to free speech? :D

On a serious note, I believe the current SL government might be in agreement. What with their endless arrests of journalists and curbing of freedoms of expression in the media. :(

yes, I want an end to free speech. Not only for journalist but also for others. I know I opposed the arrest of Journalist in the past because this seemed politicly motivated. But if the rule's would be applied to all, incl politicians, etc. I wouldnt mind sxb.
