kingofkings Posted February 28, 2012 150 soldiers of the Puntland ‘Dervish’ forces have returned to Garowe, the capital of Somalia’s Puntland federal state, after receiving training in Uganda according to officials in the capital of Puntland. These newly trained men and women of the Puntland Defense Forces (PDF) will be equipped and ready for duty. The Dervish forces, also known as the frontier police, are mainly responsible for securing the state’s borders, and they’ve been hard at work the last few years battling pirates. They are credited with the successful eradication of pirate gangs in the coastal town of Gara’ad in the Mudug region, but they will pass on the task of fighting piracy to the specially-trained Puntland Marine Force (PMF). These young men and women are the world’s frontline force against violent extremism and played an integral role in defeating pirates in the region. http://dissidentnation.com/
