On a related note, I don't think its a coincidence that the Doctor made this thread only hours after I refuted his points in another thread using the Somaliland National Development Plan as evidence. He never responded to my rebuttal regarding the true figures of SL's budget and instead made this thread to flaunt Puntland's development strategy. The Sage Posted February 25, 2012 ^^^ I never said Somaliland invented development strategies. Don't put words into my mouth. Almost every developing country has multi year growth strategies like PRSPs, SWAPs, or 2020 visions. I was pointing out the fact that the "Doctor" always accuses others of following Puntland's actions when in this case if we were to use his faulty logic, it would be the other way around. Dr_Osman Posted February 26, 2012 The only thing I can remember Puntland copying Somaliland is the neighborhood watch thing which is good initiative and was sorely lacking in Puntland, other then that there is nothing else to copy of significance over there we have two different histories, we focus on the sultanates and the grand history of our clan, the somaliland folks focus on snm rebels. Their like eritrea in a way somaliland, where-as Puntland is more like the gulf states. Havent u noticed how we always hold meetings in yemen and oman? its not by coincidence because we know what model we are looking to follow for our state. Puntland is more a Trading and Entrepeneur society or rags to riches society, where-as somaliland is more of a residential market and boqol suge. So there cannot be copying done its two different societies and ideals. Did u see somaliland business fair? they even had ladies who sell clothes apart of it, it just shows u even shopkeepers is entrepeneurial for them where-as puntland was not like that at all. We focussed on telecommunication, banking, manufacturing, and the import/export trade sector not some avg person in suuqa bosaso. We focussed on multi million dollar companies. Its really best put two different societies. One is remittance depedendant society who builds a house or two and waits for $100 dollar to come through bank transfers, the other is entrepeneurial take a desert and turn into a lush oasis and make the ppl self sufficient in their own needs. Its a society that looked at its rock and said that can definitely store fossil fuels. Its hugely different society. One looks at what it is his surrounding and thinks about how to make it better and more productive while the other looks at his surrounding and sits and takes pension from diaspora.
