That's it. Folks like these who create wealth for themselves and employ local folks in the process are our ticket back to normalcy. Give them security and decent justice system that works first and Somalis entrepreneurship spirit will be released from the genie bottle it's been locked up in the lost decades.

Looking good awoowe.

True, all we need are anti-corruption leaders with a vision.

We already have enough wealthy entrepeneurs to manufacture all the basic at home:

the authorities would have to discourage most imports too apart from some drugs, electronics or production lines from India.

Economic planning should be strict and disincentivise consumer spending or firms investment on non-essentials/imports in favor of basic goods/services and the underlying industrial infrastructure.

How great it would be to do your laundry with detergents from Burao, have dinner with tuna from Berbera, then go for a ride filling up on fuel refined in Bossaso to buy some ampicillin straight from Garowe before coming home on your bed locally assembled in Hargeysa to read some book printed in Gabiley.

I see corruption already: Qardho ka booday :D

on serious note - this kind of industries should be encouraged and congratulated - however regulations are needed to ensure health and safety standards are adhered to.

Of course Safety and health is very important and necessary but for now the folks back home need all the sport and encouragement that they can get. Remember that they are starting from scratch, and facing a lot of challenges and set backs everyday, so please stop comparing them with the western industry.

next stop on the bus, someone, somewhere, has caught with the technology to make sandals, lol. I hope thats not the next title from our great doctor. at least its better then those who kill time by talking about Sland that and plans this. One serious question, why so much soup? how much hair does one need to wash for shampoo to come jugs rather bottles. This is some industrial level shampoo.

Safety is # 1 priority. You can tell from this video (Another good company) and the comments from the management team on how safety standards are strictly adhered to & enforced. But the establishment of regulatory agencies for food and drugs is crucial. But this is just the beginning of something bigger.

Naxar I thought you were from Puntland, Havent your family told you what people do there? People in Puntland prefer to buy things in stock. Whole-sale is huge there and it helps the environment the less plastic around the better. That one storage of shampoo would require 10-15 different plastic containers and there is no recylcing occuring so you can imagine what that would do to our city like plastic bags do which also should be illegalized.
