One of the reasons his party pushed for a Federal System of government in Ethiopia was so minorities would feel they have a stake in the country they live in regardless of who is at the helm in the center. It must therefore have been disconcerting for him to see Silanyo, from the moment he came to power, was busy alienating minorities in Somaliland. First, he arrested the vice chair of UDUB party. He then arrested journalists he considered were hostile to his clan. Subsequent to that he used the clan majority he enjoys in the enclave to marginalize Awdal and SSC clans. Now he has launched a full scale assault on Buuhodle with catastrophic consequences. You can't win the hearts and minds of SCC residents with bullets.
