A_Khadar Posted February 2, 2012 Addis Ababa,(lasanod Online)- The Ethiopian government which has always welcomed Somaliland delegations including ministers of the government has withdrawn the red carpet treatment for Somaliland's erstwhile minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Abdillahi Omar. The minister who has been in Addis Ababa on "official government " business since the beginning of the recent AU Heads of State and Foreign minister summit had to decided to leave for Kenya after the normally welcoming Ethiopian government gave him the cold shoulder. According many sources close to the matter, the Foreign Office in Addis Ababa refused to receive the minister due to his lack of diplomatic credentials and in one bizarre incident, the minister, Dr. Omar went with the Somaliland Home Affairs minister Mohamed Arraleh Duur, who had a scheduled meeting with his Ethiopian counterparts. After the Home Affairs minister Duur's, return to Somaliland, in which he held a press conference to address the visit to Addis Ababa and its results and ramifications for Somaliland, Dr. Omar decided to stay on Ethiopia in the hopes of meeting with senior officials from the Ethiopian Foreign Office. Sources confirm that the Ethiopian government finally decided to give, after much pleading Dr. Omar, an audience with the Minister of State, Dr. Tekeda Alemu, and only after Dr. Alemu has completed his normally daily activities and engagements. Dr. Mohamed Abdillahi Omar, who has been Somaliland's Foreign Minister since June 2010 has managed to lower Somaliland's standing and prestige in international circles due to his lack of diplomatic skills and competence. As Somaliland debates whether or not to attend the up-coming meeting on the Horn of Africa in London, irrespective of the decision Somaliland takes, minister Dr. Omar can best serve the nation by staying at home. Siilanyo should deal with Foreign Affairs not this amateur.
